The way we are raising Nigerian boys is dead wrong!

Recently, a young lady narrated her ordeal in her home where her mother instructed her to go and make beans for her brother who also lives with them in the same home. Now this full grown adult man of about 21 years old is unable to boil even his own bathing water or make a meal he can eat, and it is expected that the females in that home are the ones who should be responsible for his food. I think that our women, especially our mothers and sisters are to be held responsible for this ugly trend and style of raising boys as this is a sure way to raise an irresponsible son who eventually becomes an irresponsible husband. That son who grows into adulthood without being able to think for himself, prepare his meal or clean up his surroundings, and the moment he secures a job or something that can pay their bills, he believes or he is advised by those mothers who raised him that the next thing he needs is to acquire another human being called woman who should be held responsible for these tasks. Then they go searching for these young women in the market called “wife material” market. Dear son or young boy, you better wear a new thinking cap because times have changed. As long as your hands are not cut off in an accident and you are not on a wheel chair, there is no reason why those hands cannot be used to help out in the home as one day you may have to live all by yourself and there would be no one to do those jobs for you.
