Take a look at this woman, today she is the DG of Word trade Organization and her name is Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.
Think again for one second, if she was a “my husband said woman”, would she ever have gotten to that position? Now don’t get me wrong, life is not so much about positions, but today she is in a place where is making more impact in the world which should be our aspiration as human beings.
As a woman, you need to know that you exist for creation and for the world and not just for one person or group of persons. You have been endowed with a brain that you can use to think, reflect on your life and the reason for your existence. You need to use that brain to move your life forward. You are limited in life and as a person if you cannot take simple decisions about your own life. There is no way you can function to full capacity as a human being if that is your experience.
A lot of Nigerian women, especially the married ones have sacrificed their goals and who they could become at the altar of marriage because of many things they say their husband is saying – my husband said I cannot go back to school, he said I cannot start the business, he said I should stop working, he said I should not take that job offer, he said I cannot travel, he said I cannot think, yes, that is what he is saying. When you say these things, you are simply saying that your husband doesn’t want you to think, he has removed the part of you that makes you human which is the ability to think for yourself, he doesn’t want you to express yourself as a human being, because a human being is one who is allowed to make use of their brain to think and take decisions.
This is 2022, are we going to keep saying these things that hold us back as women?
We exist for so much more!!!
